Maul - Gallery of Torment - CD

Compilation album by Midwest Death Metal band Maul out of Fargo, ND. This album compiles tracks from 2 EPs, 2 demos, a split, and a single for a total of 12 tracks in 44 minutes. Maul brings that OSDM style with a definite modern touch, with songs slowed down to an almost death/doom pace but with a ton of groove and almost a slow slam feel to them. The vocals are gritty and sustained, the drums are punishing, and the riffs are catchy and memorable. This is exactly what I expect when looking for this style of music, and it's exactly why Maul has become a mainstay of the Midwest scene and likely isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
